Emergency Planning
In order to properly handle an emergency situation an organization must have specific plans in place prior to the occurrence of emergency events. The plans must address all foreseeable events that could take place in an athletic setting.
The Sport Management Group will examine all aspects of your organization’s Emergency Action Plans (EAP) to ensure that they are appropriate and up-to-date.

In the days since 9/11, security concerns have become more prevalent than ever before. Athletic programs have become more vigilant when it comes to the safety and security of their student-athletes and spectators. However, vigilance is often short-lived as time passes without a major incident occurring.
The Sport Management Group will review your current security policies and make recommendations on how to strengthen your current security plan.
SMG will visit your facilities during games to see security personnel in action in order to help identify vulnerabilities.
SMG will address the following plans:

• Game Day Vulnerability
• HazMat Threats
• Homeland Security Issues
Facility Safety
Athletic facilities embody many things to a school. They are the homes to your sports teams, they provide entertainment to the community and they add to the overall aesthetics of the campus.
When one or more aspects of a facility begin to fail then it could adversely affect the health and well-being of your student-athletes and spectators alike. SMG will identify potential and existing risks in your facilities so they can be corrected to reduce or prevent injuries.

Title IX
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is the primary federal law barring sex discrimination in all facets of education, including sports programs.
Title IX requires that members of both sexes have equal opportunities to participate in sports and receive the benefits of competitive athletics.
Title IX also requires that athletic scholarships be allocated equitably and that men and women be treated fairly in all aspects of sports programming.
The Sport Management Group will help ensure that your athletic program meets Title IX Compliance requirements. SMG offers two Title IX audit options:
• Facilities-Only Title IX Audit
- Comparison of all Men’s & Women’s Athletic Facilities
• Full Title IX Audit that addresses all 3 Compliance Categories:
- Accommodation of Interests and Abilities
- Athletic Financial Assistance
- Other Program Areas (11 Areas)
Transportation Safety
The transportation of student-athletes to and from games and practices is a very important aspect of any athletic program.
Administrators and coaches are responsible for the safety of student-athletes at all times. This includes transportation from school grounds to off-site facilities.
Regardless of whether coaches drive student-athletes in school-owned vehicles or outside services are used, safety policies must be in place.

ADA Compliance
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) is the law enacted July 26, 1990 by President George H.W. Bush. The ADA is a wide-ranging civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on disability.
It is vital that athletic facilities be ADA compliant in order to successfully accommodate the needs of its disabled patrons. Failure to meet these needs could expose the organization to fines, lawsuits and negative press.
